After you've sent an invoice: mark it paid, edit it, or fix a mistake
Recording a bank transfer, editing an invoice you already sent, deleting one, and what happens if a client pays too much.
Sending the invoice is half the story. Here is how to handle everything that comes after.
Mark it paid when money arrives outside HelloNoa
Card payments record themselves. For a bank transfer or cash, open the invoice and click Record payment. The amount is prefilled with what is still due, so "they paid it all" is a single confirm, and part payments work too: the invoice tracks the balance and shows as partially paid until it is settled. You can note the date, method and a reference for your records. Nothing here is sent to your client.
Edit an invoice you already sent
Click Edit on the invoice, make your changes, and regenerate. That creates a new version, and the page keeps the version history so you can see what changed. Your client's link always opens the current version, so there is no risk of them paying an outdated copy.
Delete an invoice
Drafts can be deleted from the invoice page. Once an invoice has been sent it can no longer be deleted, so your records stay complete. If it is wrong, edit it; if it will never be paid, you can chase it (see chasing a late payment) or agree with your client to let it go.
Common questions
My client paid too much. What now?
If you are recording the payment yourself, HelloNoa will not let you enter more than the invoice balance, so nothing goes wrong by mistyping. If a card payment came through for more than was due, the invoice simply shows as settled. Agree with your client how to square the difference, and if it was a card payment, open a chat with us and we will help sort the refund.
Can I delete an invoice I already sent?
No, and that is deliberate: once an invoice has been in front of a client it is part of your money records. Drafts can be deleted freely. If a sent invoice is wrong, edit it instead, the client's link always shows the current version.
